The Wheelers hail from western Kentucky, where they have been making original, eclectic-rock music for years. Friends who go way back, they evolved from a couple of different bands and lineups to their present form: Wheeler Underwood, Kenny Martin, Dave Phillips, Jay Grace and Isaac Phillips. Archival recordings from years past show a wide variety of improvisation and influences, and they are known around town for their originality and Wheeler’s wild stage antics.

Wheeler, Dave, and Jay had a band called MC2 (we’re all MC2, everyone of us!), with Jay on drums, Conne Johnson on bass and, originally, Jeff Youngblood (of the band Magellan, fame) on guitar. They incorporated several friends on different instruments for jams and gigs. Wheeler was crucial to Paducah's “underground scene” and is renowned as an enigmatic freaker of minds; he is an enthusiastic, eccentric musician who collects all kinds of instruments and equipment. He’s also a martial arts expert and a catalyst for buddies to jam and create.

The Wheelers continue to rock and have fun jamming, writing & recording and playing the odd local gig. Keep watching for cool things to come.

Wheeler Underwood: Fearless leader, union man and wild man. Paducah’s most unique human being. He plays keyboard, guitar, bass, sax, flute, you name it. Influences: The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Shawn Phillips, Hendrix.

Kenny Martin: Retail executive, songwriter/musician extraordinaire. Veteran of several great bands, he sings, writes, plays guitar and bass. Influences: Smithland Ramblers, Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, The Archies.

Dave Phillips: Artist/musician, painter; he too has been a member of some killer area bands. Noted for his screaming leads and penchant for free-form jamming. Influences: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Tull, etc.

Jay Grace: Mystic outdoorsman, incredible drummer, and an inspiration to all who know him. Influences include: early Rush, Genesis, King Crimson.

Isaac Phillips: Dave's son, keyboardist, graphic designer and co-producer. The newest addition to the band. Influences include: Hendrix, Groove Armada, Radiohead, Underworld, etc.
